E.ON Energy Trading wins top gas trading award again
Energy Risk is one of the world’s premier monthly publications covering global energy markets. The Energy Risk Awards recognize excellence in the energy trading sector in Europe, North America and Asia.
Ingolf Hoven, Director of Gas and Oil Trading for E.ON Energy Trading, said: “We’re delighted to have been singled out again as the top gas trader in Europe by Energy Risk. It’s well-earned recognition for our gas desk, which has been focused on establishing E.ON as one of the leaders in the European wholesale market. Over the last three years we’ve significantly increased our trading activity across Europe, including supporting liquidity at developing hubs such as PEG in France and CEGH in Austria.
EET traded 34% more gas in 2010 (2005 TWh) than in 2009 (1498 TWh), and has more than doubled its traded gas volumes since 2008 (938 TWh). In addition to expanding its activity in Europe, the Düsseldorf-based company started trading US financial gas contracts in 2010.
Earlier this year EET was rated first in the Dutch gas market and named as one of the top 10 gas traders globally in Energy Risk magazine’s Commodity Rankings, which are voted on annually by the industry.
