Power and Emissions trading

Our power and emissions desks benefit from a single, integrated view of all markets and assets, improving our ability to hedge the E.ON Group’s market risks and optimize the value of its flexible generation portfolio.
Driven by seasoned professionals with extensive cross-border and cross-commodity expertise, we’re uniquely well-positioned to understand the dynamics of power and gas convergence and trade a range of products including dark spreads, spark spreads and regional spreads in power.
We also have one of Europe’s leading carbon emissions trading teams, which in turn helps the E.ON Group meet its compliance obligations within the European Union’s Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS).
We’re active in US power and carbon markets
European energy commodities are increasingly influenced by US and global market drivers. We trade financial power products in the ERCOT (Texas), MISO (Midwest), and PJM (Eastern) markets, partly in support of E.ON Climate & Renewables’ activities in the US. We’re also active in US carbon markets, trading Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative allowances (RGGIs) and Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRTs).
Our US power and carbon emissions trading knowledge enables us to better manage the potential impact of US developments on our existing core asset markets, support other E.ON Group companies and identify new trading opportunities
