E.ON Energy Trading
named top European electricity trader
E.ON Energy Trading has been named "Electricity Europe – House of the Year" by Energy Risk magazine. The winners were presented with their awards at a ceremony in London this week.
Energy Risk is one of the world’s premier monthly publications covering global energy markets and the awards are given every year to reward excellence in the energy trading sector. Stella Farrington, editor of Energy Risk, said: "Despite the challenge of bedding down a newly-integrated business in tough market conditions, E.ON Energy Trading impressed our judging panel with the speed and success of the integration process combined with strong 2008 financial results."
The task of combining all E.ON’s European trading activities under one roof in Düsseldorf meant that 2008 was a hugely important first year for E.ON Energy Trading, which was focused on building a solid foundation for the future of trading. Tony Cocker, CEO of E.ON Energy Trading, said: "In spite of the complexity of moving people and the business to Düsseldorf, our results in 2008 were excellent and we’re delighted to have been honored in this way."
The judging panel was composed of Energy Risk’s editorial team with additional input provided by industry experts. The award is also recognition that EET has become a truly European player. "We've created an international, high-performing culture and though we’ve still got a lot to do, this award is another step in the right direction of reaching our vision of becoming the leading asset-backed energy trader in Europe," said Tony.
